EC regulation 2037/2000 on Substances that Deplete the Ozone Layer is the European Union’s legislative instrument to phase-out Ozone Depleting Substances (ODS).

The regulation dictates that all ODS must be removed from refrigeration equipment before it is scrapped. ODS in refrigeration equipment refers to CFC’s and HCFC’s that were used in the cooling system and as the blowing agent in the manufacture of the insulating foam.
